Understand what is in scope

A readiness conversation begins with the business, information assets and boundaries of the management system. A clear scope helps identify relevant stakeholders and evidence. It also makes exclusions and dependencies visible. ## Assign responsibilities Policies are easier to operate when responsibilities are explicit. Identify the people who maintain risk records, review security decisions and follow up on actions. Agree how management will receive the information it needs. ## Organise existing evidence Start with what the business already has: policies, risk records, review minutes, control documentation and operating evidence. Mark what is current, incomplete or missing. Do not treat a document title as proof that a process works. ## Create a realistic gap plan For each gap, record an owner, dependency and next action. Some improvements require a business decision or a technology change. A sensible plan makes those dependencies visible instead of assuming every item can be closed immediately. ## Separate readiness from certification Preparation and implementation support are distinct from an independent certification assessment. The certification body makes the certification decision. ## Next step Our ISO/IEC 27001 readiness service helps define a scoped assessment and a practical preparation roadmap.
